About the event
Featured Poet: Christopher Diaz
Christopher Diaz is an indigenous CHamoru from the Pacific Island of Guåhan (Guam). As a writer, performer, and photographer he’s been featured by NBC News, Poets & Writers.org, and more. He is a two-time grand slam champion, won the 2023 Bigfoot Regional Slam with his PNW team, and recently won an artist grant from the Washington State Arts Commission. In 2025, he was the opening keynote speaker at the Oregon Poetry Association’s annual conference. He has taught poetry with “Writers in the Schools,” and offers writing and performance workshops online and in person in Portland, OR and Vancouver, WA. Find him at www.christopherdiazcreates.com.
Competition Format
This event will follow an elimination style competition format. Here are the details:
Participants: Up to 10 poets
Poems Required: Each poet must have three poems ready to compete

This is for COMPETING Poets. You must have 3 poems ready to compete. 7pm arrival. Late arrivals will go first or forfeit their spot.
